King of the Causeway™

Bicycle Tour and Races

The King of the Causeway™ is quickly becoming a crowd pleasing favorite. We are working hard to make this event stand out on its own. SPI BikeFest, Inc. is working with Team McAllen Cycling to create a cycling event in the Rio Grande Valley which will attract professional cyclists to this area for future annual events, including a multi-day event across the Rio Grande Valley with routes incorporating landmarks, businesses and popular attractions.

* SPI BikeFest utilized the services of a professional photographer to capture the racers as they crossed the finish line. Photographer was able to capture 6 shots per second and the finish time was noted in the picture. Cyclists whose numbers were not visible in the photographs are described to the best of our ability however, we assume no responsibility for rider numbers placed where they could not be clearly seen. Additionally, automobiles and other moving vehicles occassionally crossed in front of the race clock as racers crossed the finish line. Times were acsertained from preceding and subsequent frames. OVERALL WINNERS DETERMINED BY POINT SYSTEM OF COMBINED RACES, NOT INDIVIDUAL TIMES.

King of the Causeway (top 3 places) awarded to individuals with lowest combined scores from both Saturday races. Medals awarded to top 3 finishers in the other categories.

For the Tour:
The crossing of the Causeway is an extreme test of a person's physical and mental limits and carries with it the potential for serious injury, property loss and death. You must be physically fit, have sufficiently trained for participation in this event, and have not been advised against participation by a qualified health professional. Children must be accompanied by their parent(s) or a responsible adult. SPI Police Department will require the SAG support vehicle to pick up any participant they deem not able to successfully cross the Causeway. There will be no refunds for unsuccessful attempts at crossing the Bridge.
